However, after extensive efforts and collaboration with regulatory bodies, we're pleased to announce a significant shift that benefits you, our valued customers.

Background: The Evolution of Helmet Standards
The journey towards these changes began in September 2016 when the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) initiated a review of bicycle helmet standards. Through discussions with wholesalers, government ministers, and cycling groups, it became evident that the existing Australian standards were outdated. These standards imposed various challenges, including:
- Compulsory modifications to numerous helmet models to meet standards, resulting in increased costs for consumers.
- High minimum order quantities mandated by Australian standards, leading to limited options and color choices for consumers.
- Delays in introducing new helmet models to the Australian market compared to global releases.
- Increased helmet weight due to compliance requirements.
- Certain helmet models being unable to attain approval under the Australian standards.
The Path to Improvement
During the review process, the ACCC recognized the alignment of international standards with those in Australia. Embracing these global standards promised to address the aforementioned challenges without compromising safety. As a result, the ACCC has approved the adoption of EN 1078 standards for bicycle helmets in Australia.

With this landmark decision, Rudy Project Australia can now offer an extensive range of Rudy branded helmets, including every color variant, at more competitive prices. Additionally, any new helmet models will be swiftly introduced into the Australian market, ensuring you have access to the latest innovations in helmet technology.
A Message from the ACCC
I am writing to you in my capacity as acting CEO of the ACCC, following your recent contact with Scott Gregson concerning the mandatory safety standard for bicycle helmets.
I am pleased to advise you that the Assistant Treasurer has published a media release announcing a new safety standard for bicycle helmets, the Consumer Goods (Bicycle Helmets) Safety Standard 2024.
The new safety standard commenced on 22 March 2024 and allows the supply of bicycle helmets in Australia which meet any one of the six standards referenced within it. This includes standards from Australia, Europe and the United States. Suppliers can start supplying helmets which meet any of the six listed standards immediately, bringing savings to suppliers and consumers sooner.
· Australian standard: AS/NZS 2063:2008 Bicycle helmets
· European standard EN 1078:2012+A1:2012 Helmets for pedal cyclists and for user of skateboards and roller skates
· US Consumer Product Safety Commission standard US CPSC 16 C.F.R. Part 1203 Safety Standard for Bicycle Helmets
· ASTM International standard F1447-18 Standard Specification for Helmets Used in Recreational Bicycling or Roller Skating
· Snell standard B-95 1995 Bicycle Helmet Standard 1998 revision Standard for Protective Headgear for Use in Bicycling.
